A
compression spring offers resistance to compressive forces. Compression
springs are normally coiled with a constant body diameter, however,
other forms are common such as conical, barrel and hourglass.
Round wire is most commonly used for compression springs, although,
square, rectangular and special section wire is sometimes required.
